Document similarity measurement techniques overview
Author(s): Vladimír HANUŠNIAK
Abstract:
Examine data for similar items is one of the fundamental data-mining problem. Application of methods for similarity
search could be useful for plagiarism or near-duplicate web page detection. The basis to measure similarity are distance
measurement methods. The paper describes several distance measure methods and document representation suitable
for document similarity analysis. Conclusion of the paper state the recommendation to measure document similarity.

Advanced technology possibilities of 3D scanning
Author(s): Pavol KUDELA
Abstract:
The object digitalization creation or more precisely relevant areas, pass through progressive periods, and the
technological equipment development is rapidly progressing. Nowadays, we have the possibility to use devices that
can scan small products in detail. These products are usually of various and hardly accessible sizes. This form of
digitalization is used as a base for modelling or so-called post processing. The advantage is mainly the shortened
period, the possibility of further model configuration etc. The article presents one particular technology and various
others that are disposable and their reciprocal potential will be a contribution not only for the research purposes, but
also to for practical purposes.

Different ways of system integration
Author(s): Michal JOŠTIAK, Michal ZÁBOVSKÝ, Boris BUČKO
Abstract:
Digitizing of knowledge of mankind and his activities leads to a massive increase of the recorded data. Rapid
technological development of storage media leads into inexpensive data storage. It is obvious that currently we are
storing any information without the need for an analysis of its importance. In many areas of science and research is
need to store every generated information; in advance it is not possible to determine the significance of potential
information. With this amount of data it is increasing demand for their efficient processing. This paper deals with
different ways of system integration, from data level to UI level. In the conclusion we propose a new way to data
integration – ontology.

Product design related to assembly process manufacturing strategy
Author(s): Mária JANČUŠOVÁ
Abstract:
The article presents product design related to assembly from the point of view manufacturing strategy. Manufacturing
strategy is key for product design and development together with impacts on manufacturing firms. The paper first
describes the generally assembly process and important decisions in early product design and how an existing product
works in detail. The next sections are analyzed of point view manufacturing strategy for changing production and
impacting on manufacturing firms. Finally, the manufacturing strategy is focused on product design and development
addressed on decisions related assembly.

Laser radar – LIDAR utilization for 3D data acquisition
Author(s): Pavol BUKOVAN, Pavol KUDELA
Abstract:
This article aims at 3D data acquisition by scanning. It describes a device located in a unique workplace of the
University of Zilina – University Science Park. It is a mobile laser LIDAR designed for 3D data acquisition. First
part of the article reveals information about the history of LIDAR device utilization, as well as its first commercial
use. Nowadays, there are many kinds of LIDAR on the market, depending on a type. The potential of the equipment
is mainly in its very precise output that can be used in different branches. Transport is certainly one of the most
interesting ones, but also terrain surfaces mapping both inside and outside municipalities. That is why its utility
potential is huge in these areas.

Progressive materials and technologies
Author(s): Barbora LUHOVÁ
Abstract:
In modern materials science the main trends are represented by fabrication, characterization and application of
materials and structures with dimensions in or near the nanometer range. In this frame, inorganic nanomaterials have
been increasingly attracting the attention of scientists owing to their interesting electronic, optical, magnetic, thermal,
mechanical and chemical properties, which are highly dependent on their size and shape. Such geometry-dependent
characteristics are essential for their high impact on fundamental aspects as well as for the high potential in technology
applications.

Research of unconventional drives and their components at the University Science Park of the University of Žilina
Author(s): Igor GAJDÁČ, Martin MRUZEK, Ľuboš KUČERA
Abstract:
The article deals with the design of the Energy Usage Assist for the experimental electric vehicle Edison. The new
testing facility of the University Science Park of the University of Žilina UVP MAHA is presented. The UVP MAHA
facility allows testing vehicles with unconventional propulsion on the roller dynamometer MAHA MSR 1050. The
main part of the article is about proposal of intelligent Energy Usage Assist. The Energy Usage Assist communicate
with the driver by visual and acoustic method in order to optimize driving style to minimize energy consumption.
There are presented first results of measurements which are necessary for the Energy Usage Assist designing.

Advanced technology possibilities of 3D scanning
Author(s): Andrej ČERŇAVA, Pavol KUDELA
Abstract:
The perspective of using modern technologies in production processes is more and more promoted in 3D scanning
technologies. These technologies are mostly used to control products, reverse engineering, control of quality etc.
Therefore, this paper describes 3D laser scanners that are located in University Science Park of the University of
Zilina. Laser 3D scanners are now considered to be the most accurate devices due to product verification and prediction
of adverse effects. In this paper, possibilities of digitalization by the 3D laser scanners will be described.

Specialized simulator oriented towards road traffic cargo vehicles
Author(s): Daniel BEŇADIK, Pavol KUDELA
Abstract:
This article is focused on USP UNIZA technological equipment. Treating the specialized simulator oriented towards
road traffic cargo vehicles, suitable for research with full featured output in frame of examination of loaded material
conduct as well as recreation periods of the user in given critical driving conditions. Simulation is a powerful tool for
analysis, design and operation of complicated systems. Simulation provides ideal mechanism for research
examination, unable to implement, too expensive or dangerous in real world, including the cognitive or physical
abilities consideration, acquired knowledge concerning the drivers´ behavior, vehicles construction testing in virtual
testing road and the drivers´ training.
